Laurie started out her musical career in her family’s bluegrass band where she soon realized her passion was singing harmony and song writing.
In 1989 she became one of the founding members of the band South Mountain who won the 1991 CCMA Vista Rising Star Award, several times nominated for CCMA Country Group of the Year, DCMA International group of the year. South Mountain spent time travelling extensively throughout Canada, Europe and the United States, as well as hosted their own television series Canadian Country Express which aired 4 seasons.
Laurie’s entertaining experience includes performing on several CCMA Awards Shows, The Tommy Hunter Show, and several other tv shows, radio shows throughout Europe and North America. Laurie has provided support to such artists as Albert Lee, Lucille Star, Coleen Peterson, Joe Sun singing harmony and playing rhythm guitar. She has shared the stage with such acts as Vince Gill, Trisha Yearwood, Charlie Pride, Conway Twitty, Marty Stuart, Gene Watson and many others. One of Laurie’s most rewarding experiences was entertaining the Canadian troops in Bosnia and Croatia as a member of a girl trio called the Gal Pals.
Laurie has penned and co-written several singles receiving national airplay on Country Radio. She has songs included in three movies and a national sit com.
These past years Laurie continues to develop songwriting skills, provides harmony lessons and shares her time performing at bluegrass and country festivals/venues throughout the Ottawa Valley.
